John Buccola serves as Sensor Industries’ Chairman of the Board and has served on its Board since April 2017. Mr. Buccola is the Chief Technology Officer for Profit Enhancement Systems (PES) in Westlake Village. Prior to PES, Buccola was CIO for WASH, North America’s premier provider of multifamily housing services, where he was recognized by MIT and Microsoft for his work in machine learning. John also held CIO and IT leadership roles at Panavision and Alliance Healthcare and serves as a Board Member for the Society for Information Management, BikeVentura and the Channel Islands YMCA. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business from the University of La Verne.
Mike Panesis is the Executive Director of the California Lutheran University Center for Entrepreneurship. He is a startup community leader in the Conejo Valley and Ventura County, to the north of Los Angeles. He comes to Cal Lutheran from UC Santa Barbara, where he ran UCSB’s highly successful New Venture Competition. Mr. Panesis is a frequent speaker on entrepreneurship and early stage investing.
Mike is Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Governors of Tech Coast Angels (TCA), the largest accredited angel investor group in the country. He heads TCA’s Central Coast Investor Network. Mike is a founding member of the Santa Barbara Angel Alliance.
Mike has an MBA Marketing from Rutgers University and a BS in Computer Science for Business from the DeVry Institute of Technology. He lives in Camarillo with his wife and two children. He is on the Steering Committee of the Ventura County Greek Festival.
Previously serving as CEO of Talon International, Inc. for ten years, Mr. Schnell led an operational and financial turnaround of this global apparel brand including establishment of a worldwide supply chain, strategic customer realignments and multiple debt & equity restructurings. Prior to Talon he provided financial turnaround & management services to an electronic surface-mount manufacturer; an e-commerce marketplace for electronic components; and an international manufacturer and distributor of high technology pumps. Mr. Schnell has also served as a senior financial and corporate development officer for a diversified consumer products firm, an international aerospace manufacturer; and a regional apparel retailer. He was a CPA with Ernst & Young and completed an executive MBA with Stanford University Executive Institute.
A successful and experienced venture investor across a variety of enterprise and consumer facing technology companies, Jim is a founding partner of March Capital Partners, launched in 2014.
Jim was a lead early investor (pre product launch) and on the board of consumer hits PayPal, NetZero and CarsDirect and has led investments across enterprise technology companies that have sold to Cisco, VMWare and Microsoft. On several occasions Forbes Magazine has recognized Jim on its “Midas List” as one of the top Venture Capitalists in the United States.
Jim co-founded March Capital in 2014 and has been at Clearstone Venture Partners since 1998. Jim was a partner with idealab Capital Partners in the late 1990s and started his career at Austin Ventures in 1995.
Jim still actively manages Clearstone’s investments in SupplyFrame, CarStory, HomeStory and UserTesting, and was involved in the launch of two innovative venture studios – The Hive (big data and AI) and The Fabric (cloud networking). Jim was a seed investor, led early rounds of financing and is on the board of March Capital companies SpyCloud (cyber security), Branch (employee fin tech), Bridg (retail tech), Vyng (consumer mobile) and Lexicon (travel tech).
Jim holds a BA in Economics from the University of California at Los Angeles and an MBA from the McCombs School at the University of Texas at Austin. He still loves investing in Texas.
Richard Lowenthal has started several companies and has been an executive at ChargePoint, Cisco, StrataCom, Stardent Computers, and Convergent Technologies. He was formerly Mayor of Cupertino and has been President of several non-profits. He is a leading expert in electric vehicles and holds over 30 patents in EV charging.
He’s currently on the board of the Cupertino Educational Endowment Foundation, the Cupertino Rotary Endowment Foundation, and ChargePoint, Inc.
